Senthil Balaji is one of Tamil Nadu's most controversial political figures: arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on 14 June 2023 in a cash-for-jobs case dating to his AIADMK tenure as transport minister (2011-16), in and out of judicial custody, and resigned from the TN cabinet on 27 April 2025 following Supreme Court observations. He returned to electoral politics in 2026 — and held Coimbatore South by the slimmest workable margin. A TVK debutant in a one-year-old party came within 2,271 votes of unseating him.

V. Senthilkumar (42) is a Coimbatore-born businessman, son of M. Veerasamy. He completed his 10th at Mani Higher Secondary School, Pappanaickenpalayam (2000), 12th at Thavathiru Santhalinga Adigalar Higher Secondary School, Perur (2002), and his B.Com at S.N.R. Sons College, Coimbatore (April 2005). He is registered as a voter in 121-Singanallur (the adjacent assembly seat, Part 44, Serial 668), placing his residence in the Singanallur belt rather than the Coimbatore South core he contested. His ECI affidavit lists his occupation as "business"; his wife is a homemaker.

Senthilkumar's official TVK designation is "Party Administrator (B.Com)" — a structural office in TVK's organisational hierarchy. He was brought into the Coimbatore South ticket under the blessings of party chief Vijay, with guidance from General Secretary Bussy Anand and senior strategist Sengottaiyan. On 2 April 2026, District Secretary Sampath accompanied him to the Central Zonal Office; papers were submitted to Deputy Commissioner / Election Officer Kumaresan. Pre-nomination, he garlanded the C.N. Annadurai statue on Avinashi Road and offered a floral tribute to MGR — invoking Dravidian-icon legitimacy for the new party.
